We are family members and guardians of severely
disabled, mentally handicapped, and medically fragile individuals
who reside at the Seven Hills Pediatric Center in Groton,
Massachusetts. Our goal is to prevent the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts from moving our children, siblings and wards
out of their long-term homes, something it has committed
itself to doing in its settlement of the Rolland vs. Patrick
law suit. We believe that our loved ones lives have been
placed in jeopardy by the attorneys and organizations that
brought this suit and especially by the uncaring and unprofessional
response to the suit on the parts of the Commonwealth, represented
by its Department of Mental Retardation and Attorney General’s
office. Please read about the dangerous position in which
our helpless loved ones have been placed and write to your
representatives, senators, and governor to demand that they
replace the rigid ideology and bureaucracy that has guided
their actions under the current administration with the
humanity and common sense that will allow our loved ones
to live with dignity and security for as long as the quality
care at their current home makes possible.
